ANZAC Day

We were asked to do a piece of writing on what we did on ANZAC day and this is what I wrote.

On ANZAC Day (25th of April) I went to my cousin's house (his name is Kasiam, I think that’s how it should be spelt) in Hillsborough. We built an advanced hut including an unused toilet (we aren't that gross, even if we did dig a hole and put a tyre on top), three beds that we could lie on (made out of two tyres with a boogie board on top, but they did work and are comfortable), a roof that could hold off the rain for up to a hour (it was made out of boogie boards on sticks), a nearly flat floor that didn't drive holes into your feet, (the reason we didn’t wear shoes was that we wanted to make the jungle idea stay alive, and wearing shoes would demolish it) and sticks that wouldn’t break in the face of danger!

It took five hours to build and by the end we were exhausted and out of breath, but still ready to go if the time called for it ( which it didn’t, but could have easily). We didn’t really do it for any reason apart from boredom, but in the end we were proud of what we had managed to make in the space of five long hours.           By Saskia
