We were ask to do a trench diary in remembrance of ANZAC day ( Aussie New Zealand Army Corps) about what we thought a day in the life of a soldier would be like. This is what I made.
WALT describe using our senses
I can see rats, lots of them, some as big as cats and all feeding on old Sam's body with our mascot, a cat called Tobie trying and failing to fight them of his master’s body. It’s a sickening sight and Sam's brother just threw up but he can’t help it and I think i’m about to follow in both of their footsteps.

I can hear bombs and bullets which makes me feel sick because I know I will die soon. I Can also hear Sam's brother being sick which is not very nice at all. Through the rest of the choir I can hear old and faithful Tobie fighting off the rats.

I have the taste of blood in my mouth and I don't know if it’s mine. I can also taste rust and a lot of bad food that, if I was at home I would never have eaten.

I can smell gunpowder in the air and a little bit of mustard gas which I know will kill me soon. I can also smell rats and the rotten food they feed us in Sam's brothers puke.

I can feel death. It’s under my fingernails and creeping towards my heart were it will end me.

I feel sick and in pain and as though I will die soon which I know I will.

I feel like I will die soon and am denying it because I want to go home and see my children grow.
